This study-unit is targeted to third year midwifery students. It is hoped that this study unit will provide an understanding of the learners' own spirituality and how it can be nurtured as part of their professional growth, promotion of their wellbeing and the basis of their calling as a midwife. It should provide knowledge of research data on the impact of spirituality on health during pregnancy and childbirth and on the impact of the client's cultural identity, beliefs, practices and interactions with the midwife.
